Rachel Newenham

Rachel Newenham was born and raised in County Cork. At the age of eighteen, she moved to London to train at Central St. Martin’s College of Art and Design. She then took a degree in Product Design at Ravensbourne College of Design and subsequently worked as a Product Designer in Holland, Dublin and Cork.

Rachel furthered her education with a Postgraduate H-Dip in Art and Design Education from the Crawford College in Cork City. She received a First Class Honours and was awarded both the Marshall Hudson prize for top student in her year, and the Larkin Memorial prize for top student nationally in 2001.

ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Rachel's work was on display at Easthorpe Church May 2015
  • Craft Fair at the Glucksman Gallery, UCC 2014
  • Cork Craft Month CRUTH exhibition, Kinsale, August 2013 and 2014
  • Rachel was commissioned by Wilkin and Sons jam makers to make a gold Little Scarlet strawberry for her majesty the Queen on her visit to Tiptree, marking the company's 125th anniversary in 2010.
  • Group exhibition in silver at Cill Riallig Art Centre, Co.Kerry ~ 2008.
  • Rachel's work was included in a continuum of historical pieces in the landmark exhibition "500 years of Silver in Cork" to mark Cork City as European Culture Capital 2005.
